1. What is IELTS LISTENING?

1. Academics and GT have same listening question paper.
2. Listening test lasting for 40 minutes.
(You will need to answer 40 questions in response to four recordings.)
3. The test recording will last for 30 minutes.
4. There will be 10 minutes to write up answers in answer sheet.
5. IELTS Listening test consists of 4 sections with 10 questions per sections. The questions are designed in the way that all the answers will appear in order as what they are heard in the video.

Recording 1:
A conversation between two people about every day situation/social context.

This is quite easy section. Speaker talks quite slowly and making pauses.
For an example: Two people speaking about their planning to journey, A police complaint for lost of bag or laptop.

Recording 2:

A monologue set in everyday situation/social context.

The speaker talks slowly but with less pause.
For an example: A speech about local facilities or changes in local policy.

Recording 3:

A conversation between up to four people set in educational or training context.
For an example: tutor and student discussing about an assignment/project

Recording 4:

A person who share their expertise on specific subject.
For an example: university professor taking a lecture or a seminar/ giving a speech on a subject.

2.Type of questions

Type 1- multiple choice(MCQs)

In multiple choice questions,there is a question followed by three possible ways. Test taker are required to give answer in A,B or C.

Some questions have more than 3 options in there test given can select multiple correct answers as per questions.

Type 2: Form, Note , Table , Summery collection , Description, charts

Test takers are required to fill the gaps in an outline of part in the listening text. It will mainly focus on main ideas, like wise
In a form , used to filled record for specific data such as name , address and numbers.

Notes, used to summarise an information.

A table , used as a way of collecting information which is clear categories: place/time/date or price.

In a flow chart, a process which has clear each and every stage with pictorical view and the process is showing with arrows.

Type 3: matching

Match the numbered list of items from listening text to a set of options on the question paper.

Type 4: plan, map, diagram and labelling.

Required to complete labels on a plan , map or a diagram.

The answers are usually selected from a list on the question paper.
